NSU evacuated after bomb threat at LSMSA

Buildings on Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches, La, were evacuated Monday after a bomb threat was called to the Louisiana School for Math, Science and Arts (LSMSA). LSMSA is a high school located on NSU’s campus.

The following buildings were evacuated: Friedman Student Union, Fournet Hall, Morrison Hall,the Family and Consumer Sciences building, Kyser Hall, Williamson Hall, Bienvenu Hall, Creative and Performing Arts building, Russell Hall and the Alumni Center. Watson Library was also closed. Classes in these buildings have been cancelled until further notice.

University police, Natchitoches police and state police are on the scene.

The Hawkeye will post updates about this story as details are provided.

UPDATE: After two hours of police searches, the all clear was given after no bomb was found on the campus.

    I’m from the Monroe area and I graduated from LSMSA. There are many LSMSA students from the Monroe Metro Area and people should be informed of what’s going on with the young people of their communities who live and go to school there.

    A bomb threat at a major university in Louisiana is major news for the very obvious reason that many of us have friends and colleagues at the university someone is threatening to blow up.
