Warhawks with another top-10 finish

The ULM men’s golf team had a solid showing at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, recording a 4-under par 284 in the third round to finish tied for ninth on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

There were 15 teams competing at the tournament with South Florida finishing in first place.

“We had numerous opportunities to go lower but didn’t convert enough putts. On a positive note, we were one of three teams in the tournament that had all five players under par for 54 holes,” said head coach Tim Baldwin.

This top-10 finish marks ULM’s fourth straight during the fall schedule.

They placed eighth in the Golf Week Conference Challenge, tied for ninth in the Northern Intercollegiate and tied for seventh in the Louisville Cardinal Challenge.

The Warhawks had some promising performances from freshman Max Catherine, who shot a 1-under par in the third round to tie for 21st, and sophomore Andoni Etchenique, who also finished tied for 21st, shooting a 5-under 211.

“We are showing signs of progress and look to finish on a good note next week at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate at Mystic Creek. Mystic Creek will be a tough test for all participants, especially with cooler weather forecasted,” said Baldwin.

The Warhawks will finish up their fall season as they play host to the Duck Commander Intercollegiate.

The tournament is scheduled for 0ct. 29-31 at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Arkansas.
