It’s been six years since the events of “1974,” but no one has escaped the effects of its events.
Peter Hunter (Paddy Considine) hasn’t forgotten either, especially since he and his wife’s first miscarriage marked his memory of investigating the West Yorkshire police.
“Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1980,” directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire, The King), addresses relationships between couples, friends and, where the film’s primary conflict arises, West Yorkshire police officers.
Hunter assembles a team to investigate the Yorkshire Ripper’s murders, but he can’t trust anyone. Person after person avoids talking to him only to later beg or demand to speak with him.
With such capricious behavior in mind, Hunter recognizes corruption and knows how to combat it. But he can’t do it alone and when no one fights with you, how long can you last?
