The ULM tennis team cruised to a 6-1 season-opening win over Central Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at Raymond Heard Stadium.
The Warhawks (1-0) started strong, taking the first three singles matches against the Sugar Bears (1-4). At the end of the day, five of six singles and two of three doubles matches ended in ULM’s favor.
Sophie Rufyikiri, Medy Blankvoort, Silvia Tumova, Justyna Krol and newcomer Petra Horakova all claimed victory in singles play.
In doubles competition, Medy Blankvoort and Justyna Krol pair up to defeat Krizia Buck and Allison Murphy 8-3. The team of Sophie Rufyikiri and Ema Turudija were also victories, beating Kristina Horsikyan and Anna Buyukyan by a score of 8-2.
In six season at ULM, head coach Terrence De Jongh has never lost a home opener.
Next up for the Warhawks is a trip to Lake Charles, LA to take on McNeese State on Friday, Feb 1. Match-play will begin at 2 p.m.
