Rock is dying, and apparently it’s up to Fall Out Boy to save it. The highly anticipated album from Fall Out Boy was released Tuesday. The album “Save Rock And Roll” is the band’s anthem to rock music.
The guys don’t disappoint with their fast, intricate wordplay blended with powerful guitar riffs and drum beats. Their single “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark” steadily builds into great melodies led by singer Patrick Stump. He shows off his voice in this song with his screams like an 80s hair band.
Every song reflects Fall Out Boy’s new synth rock style while still staying true to their own punk rock style that fans have loved since their first album, “Take This To Your Grave.”
I was excited for Fall Out Boy because this is their first album since 2008, and this album looks like it will make a huge impact on their fans. I think everyone will have a favorite on this album.
They have made huge strides in music, especially in rock and punk rock. This album shows a change-up with featured artists like Big Sean, Courtney Love and Elton John.
I usually like an album if I like more than half the songs. In this case, I do. The only song I really dislike is “Rat a Tat” featuring Courtney Love. She tries too hard to be tough in her intro and it just ruins it for me. The song could do without Love.
“Save Rock And Roll” is probably one of my favorites on this album, probably because Elton John is on it. The lyrics plus Stump’s voice are a match made in heaven; Stump’s vocal range is simply phenomenal. John is just the icing on the rock cake.
Every song is pretty fast paced and this one is the only “slow” song on the whole album. The whole album has hardcore, heart-pumping loud music- that’s true rock ‘n’ roll.
Another favorite of mine is “Alone Together.” It’s definitely different but it’s also catchy and that’s what I like about it.
Overall, this is a pretty darn good album. Fall Out Boy brings a new side and new sound, but with the same punk spirit we all know and love. Let’s make one thing clear- this is a new Fall Out Boy. Some things have changed but I can respect them for taking a risk. Congrats guys, it worked. I give this album four out of five stars.
This album is innovative and unique, which is what Fall Out Boy is known for. It’s not the same, but I can definitely deal with that.
