Red lipstick: is it a do or a don’t?
To be honest, any person can wear red lipstick. Your skin complexion or age doesn’t matter. The trick is finding the correct shade.
Your best bet is to go to a beauty counter and tell them you want a red lipstick.
Depending on your skin tone and undertones, they will pick out which shade of red is best for you.If you see someone with a similar skin tone as you, wear a particular shade, it may not work for you because you may have different undertones.
Warm skin tones with olive or yellow undertones should pick reds that have orangey or brown tones to them. Cool skin tones with pink or red tones should pick reds that have blue undertones.
These can easily be picked out by a beauty professional. You can also find them for cheaper at a Walgreens, Walmart or CVS.
Remember when wearing a red lip, the rest of your face should be neutral. Unless you’re going for the vampire queen look, heavy eye makeup and blush are not recommended.
You only want to draw attention to one focus point on your face.
Having too many focus points can come off a bit clownish, and just be plain distracting. So remember if you have a dramatic eye, then leave everything else calm, and if you have a dramatic lip, then give the rest of your face a break.
