The ULM football team fell behind early against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in Saturday’s 38-10 loss.
A 21-point second quarter by the Blue Raiders doomed the Warhawks as they failed to duplicate Oct. 16’s thrilling comeback against Western Kentucky.
Middle Tennessee (3-4, 2-1 Sun Belt) senior quarterback Dwight Dasher passed for 219 yards and ran for 66 yards with two passing touchdowns in the second quarter. The outburst allowed the Blue Raiders to sit comfortably at halftime with a 28-3 cushion.
Middle Tennessee’s run-heavy offense kept the Warhawks at bay, as Phillip Tanner added 73 yards and a touchdown and William Pratcher’s late touchdown closed the door on any possible ULM rally.
ULM (3-4, 2-2) had trouble trying to catch up to Middle Tennessee, as Kolton Browning threw an early interception to Rod Issac that went for a touchdown for the Blue Raiders.
Browning recorded his sixth straight 200-yard game, throwing for 232 yards and two interceptions. Browning and junior Luther Ambrose connected on an eight-yard pass for ULM’s only touchdown.
Ambrose caught a personal-best nine passes for 66 yards and clearly was Browning’s favorite target of the day.
The Warhawks rushing attack was halted as ULM finished the day with 4 rushing yards on 28 carries.
The Warhawks will return to the friendly confines of Malone Stadium this Saturday against the four-time defending Sun Belt Conference champion Troy Trojans.
