Spring Break 2014 is quickly approaching and students of ULM are more ready than ever. This semester has been long and dreadful for many said Kia Weinreber, Freshman Pre-pharmacy student. The challenge to overcome Spring 2014 is a tough but majority of students claim they look forward each year to the one week off that never seems long enough.
Meanwhile some students are planning to spend their spring break in various ways. Some have planned beach trips with groups of friends while others have may be going on family vacations to visit relatives up north. Even some will spend their spring breaks perfectly content while sitting on the couch at home catching up with their favorite TV shows, and others will even be working their entire break.
No matter what students’ plans may be for spring break 2k14, safety is essential. Road trips of any kind should be planned carefully. Whether travelling with friends, family, or even alone, safety should always come first. Although the goal of a successful college spring break is to have fun, students should remember that ULM awaits their attendance when classes resume April 28.
Students can never go wrong with taking just a few minutes time to make an efficient packing checklist. Ensuring necessities aren’t left behind, and safety precautions are taken are important. When using vehicle transportation for road trips, make sure vehicles have been inspected along with oil changes and full tanks of gas. Jumper cables, tire changing kits, etc are necessities when traveling. Always assume the worst possible could occur. Drivers should be well rested and under zero influence of any toxiacting substances to ensure a safe trip. Plenty of snacks and bottled water are also a must.
Spring breaker, Adrian Smith a Sophomore Political Science major, said “My fraternity, Kappa Alpha, plans to go to Panama City Beach again this year. Yes, we will have alcoholic beverages but we’re always responsible and have designated drivers no matter what.” Smith has planned his spring break wisely. Although he plans to have fun and “Laissez Le Bon Temps Rouler” also known as “let the good times roll” in southern slang, like many other ULM students he plans to put safety first.
