A third Facebook page dedicated to helping ULM students has surfaced recently.
ULM Roommate hopes to help students living off-campus find roommates, or potential apartments or houses.
Darren Rindt serves as the current administrator. Rindt took control of the page after the creator graduated.
“It allows prospective students to find other freshmen they might want to request as their roommate in the dorms, as well as students interested in living off-campus,” said Rindt, a senior criminal justice major.
Rindt said that students send in information to the page via messages with projected costs and a description of the space available.
Students can also submit roommate requests if searching for a dorm roommate in the same manner.
“I know it isn’t as popular as the Book Swap page, but it can be just as useful,” Rindt said.
Rindt said that many students are unaware of the page’s existence.
“We’ve been pushing to get more people to like and share the page in order to expand the amount of people using it,” Rindt said.
Kali Gaar located her roommate through the Facebook page, and currently lives off-campus with her.
“It was great finding someone that I was sure I could get along with,” said Gaar, a freshman education major.
Gaar said that the two of them got along so well that they decided to rent a house together.
“It really worked out. Now we live off-campus, and we still get along great,” Gaar said.
Gaar also said that anyone in need of a roommate should utilize the page.
