The Nepalese Student Association requested a $500 scholarship from the Student Government Association in the Student Center Tuesday.
The organization requested the money for its second Nepali Night, which features Nepalese food and entertainment.
Registered Student Organizations or RSO’s like the NSA are allowed to appeal to SGA for these scholarships every semester.
“The scale of this year’s event will be bigger than before, and better than before and feistier than before,” said Kiran Dangol, a representative of NSA.
Dangol said the event is on Oct. 25. It’s open to the public and tickets are $10.
Phi Mu also requested a scholarship for its first Catfish and Khakis Night.
They will be selling catfish plates to the public and proceeds will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
“You don’t have to wear khakis to come,” said Allyson Maxwell, a representative of Phi Mu.
The event is on Oct. 20. Tickets are $8 and $10 at the door.
The SGA senate also voted to grant a scholarship to Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity for their annual Miss Black and Gold Pageant on Nov. 17.
The SGA senate will vote on the NSA and Phi Mu’s proposals at its next meeting on Oct. 13.
