THE GROVE – On Saturday, November 20, 2010, the ULM Student Government Association held the second annual Parent’s Day on the ULM campus. Parents could join with their students and enjoy in the pregame events. “My parents drove all almost 6 hours just to hang out with me,” stated Melissa Harvey, a junior pharmacy major from Houston, Texas.
The festivities included the ULM Chili Cook-off, tailgating in the grove, the football game with ULM facing off against North Texas, and finally, a men’s basketball game against Southeastern Oklahoma State University. For only $40, parents could receive a t-shirt for the event, free samples of chili, a ticket to the football game, and a ticket to the basketball game.
With a crowd attendance of 8,905, the Warhawks pulled out a victory, leaving the crowd to enjoy the basketball game later that evening. “It was my first basketball game of the year, and I’m glad that my parents were here to enjoy it with me,” stated Jillian Hunt, a sophomore kinesiology major from Bossier City. “If they hold parent’s day next year, I want mine to come back and enjoy it with me.”
