The ULM softball team resumed their fall scrimmages Saturday against Lamar State Community College defeating them soundly by a final score of 9-3.
While the batters were on display Saturday, pitching was top notch as well. Senior Melanie Coyne got the start for the Warhawks and was lights out early in the game.
After her offense gave her a four run lead through two innings, Coyne entered the third inning having only allowed one run.
A couple of fielding and throwing errors by the in eld forced Coyne to leave the game after walking a batter. is loaded the bases with two outs remaining.
In relief for Coyne was junior Paige Porter who threw three straight strikes to get the Warhawks out of the jam and keep the score to 4-2.
Porter continued to sit down batters and help the offense sit back and drive in runs.
After a three run sixth inning, the Warhawks closed out the game by a final score of 9-3.
ULM finished the day with 14 total hits and three errors, and now they turn their focus as they look to face each other in the Maroon vs. Gold World Series on Tuesday Nov. 1.
