‘Stranger Things 2’: Let’s travel back to the “Upside-down”
November 6, 2017
Stranger Things season two is finally here.
After one long year since last seeing the gang in Hawkins, Indiana, fans finally get their Demogorgon, “Upside-Down” and waffles fix.
The new season takes place one year after the events of the first season with the whole cast returning to their respected roles.
However, is this season a worthy follow-up to the first?
Let’s find out.
As far as the acting goes, everyone has brought out their A-game this season.
This is no surprise with Finn Wolfhard (Mike) just coming off the box office hit IT, Winona Ryder (Joyce) acting crazy and paranoid like she does so well and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) bringing comic relief when outer dimensional beings are threatening the world.
However, the true standout in this season is Noah Schnapp who plays Will Byers.
Although most of the first season was based around him, he didn’t get a lot of screen time.
The events in season two really ask a lot from Schnapp as an actor, and he delivers flawlessly.
We also have some new faces in the show like Dacre Montgomery (Billy), Sadie Sink (Max) and Sean Austin (Bob).
These three characters compliment other characters and their stories.
The story itself is a little similar to the first season.
Will is in trouble, and the whole gang is thrown back into the crazy “upside-down” world again.
It is a very slow burn but one that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats the whole time.
Every episode is well-placed with terrible cliffhanger endings.
By the end of the season, much like the first, everything wraps up pretty well while adding a little tease for the third season right before the ending credits.
The exposition comes in little pieces and makes one crave for more at the end of every episode.
The kids talk just like one would expect them to when there are no parents around, with Dustin swearing at every chance he gets and Lucas and Mike arguing about the next step on their adventure.
To sum it all up, Stranger Things season two is pretty awesome.
Though not as good as the previous season, it is a very worthy follow-up.
The acting was great, the story telling was riveting and season three can’t get here fast enough.
