Senator donates to political science honoring his father

Senator Mike Walsworth has established the Michael A. Walsworth Endowed Scholarship in Political Science at the University of Louisiana Monroe with a $30,000 contribution to the ULM Foundation.
At a press conference at ULM last Wednesday, Walsworth, who is term-limited and retiring from the state legislature, talked about his decision to create the scholarship.
Walsworth said that he created the scholarship in memory of his father who was an avid learner and a supporter of ULM.
Further, the senator wants to encourage college students to study political science and pursue a career in it as he believes more young professionals are needed in the field.
President Dr. Nick J. Bruno thanked Walsworth for both the scholarship and his dedication to public service.
Dr. Joshua Stockley, political science professor, introduced two recipients of the Walsworth Scholarship, Allie Lee and Shelby Rybicki. Both of them are political science alumni from ULM.
Lee is a staff member with Louisiana 6th district congressman Garrett Graves’ office. Rybicki is in ULM graduate school pursuing a master of public administration.
