In case you didn’t know, the U in ULM stands for unorganized.
If you joined me Thursday waiting for the homecoming pep rally that never came, you know where I’m going with this.
I found myself and a small crowd of students, alums and family gathered outside the Grove to see the homecoming court recognized. We all stood confused, wondering why the Grove looked lifeless with the rally less than 15 minutes away. We all followed the weekly schedule and made it to the right place at the right time, so what gives?
We checked Instagram, Facebook and even YikYak, looking for any post that mentioned a change of time or venue. We found nothing.
As the clock on my dash crept closer to 7 p.m., we realized a pep rally wasn’t in our future.
As fate had it, the powers that be moved the location to Fant-Ewing without a head’s up.
We quickly showed up to the front doors of the coliseum just to meet a crowd of departing guests.
Only five minutes passed during our brief travel, but we missed out on everything.
As you’ll see in a few pages, I had my reasons for being there. My complaints would be a moot point if nobody but me had this inconvenience.
Some friends and family missed out on seeing the homecoming court, which is a big deal.
One woman I spoke with in the parking lot showed she was completely frustrated while her family stared at the thinning crowd. I couldn’t blame her.
Like I said, I’m not writing this for me; I’m writing it for those who missed out.
It takes no time to put out a post or anything that gives the campus a heads-up that there’s a change of plans.
To err is human, but to foul up part of homecoming is lousy.
