Love was in the air at the Ambitious Women Society’s Sip and Paint party. The AWS invited all couples and singles to sip pink lemonade and paint a Valentine-themed picture on Valentine’s Day.
The Ambitious Women’s Society often hosts events like this to get students out of the dorm and meet new people. For Valentine’s Day, the AWS hosted a painting event and a Cupid-themed market. The shop featured bear-shaped and heart-shaped candles along with wax melts in Valentine’s colors.
Social Chair and senior toxicology major Sirenity Winfield enjoyed seeing the positive environment the group created through its Valentine’s event.
“Everyone seemed to have a great time, and many people contacted us afterward and said they really enjoyed the event,” Winfield said. “That feedback makes us extremely happy, and we hope to put on more events like this in the future.”
Many students came with their significant other or brought friends along to have a good time together. Students chatted the night away while bringing their beautiful paintings to life. Some painted hearts, flowers and even nature scenes.
“My favorite part of the Sip and Paint was watching everyone bond over creating their own unique artwork,” junior marketing major Shamya Phillips said. Phillips helped plan the Sip and Paint party as the AWS Vice President.
“I enjoy these types of events because it allows for everyone to unwind and take a break from the hustle of being a student,” Phillips said.
Some students really got into the cupid spirit, such as freshman biology major Kelly Lohman, who painted candy hearts on a light blue canvas.
“I had a lot of fun, and it was a great relaxing time painting and chatting with friends,” Lohman said. “It was such a cute idea and I love seeing AWS representing around campus.”
