Homecoming at ULM always brings a second wind to the morale of students.
Amid midterms and projects, Homecoming Week acts as a much-needed stress reliever. It allows students to take a break from their hectic schedules and find some school spirit with various games and activities. Homecoming Week has at least one event for everyone.
While last year’s events featured crowd favorites such as the hot air balloon ride and the fireworks display, this year introduced new experiences that deserve more attention and appreciation.
Activities such as therapy dogs, the rage room and Zorb racing offered refreshing additions that we can all enjoy, especially during the middle of a taxing semester.
This year’s focus clearly shifted toward giving students opportunities to unwind and relax, as opposed to the previous year, which focused on partying. The therapy dogs were a major hit, as usual. They are the go-to if students want to relieve stress on campus, and their presence during homecoming was a welcome sight for everyone. I know I was a much happier, less stressed person after playing with the therapy dogs.
For those looking to do something different, this year’s events moved away from large, crowd-heavy gatherings and leaned into more casual experiences. These events let students destress while keeping the spirit of homecoming high.
While some may have missed the high-energy events like last year’s Halloween Bash, this year’s homecoming still offered plenty of excitement. Traditional activities such as the faculty vs. students softball game, the homecoming parade and the pep rally made an anticipated return, ensuring that Warhawk pride was front and center throughout the week.
The AUX Cord Warz live musical game show returned this year by popular demand.
Of course, we can’t forget the most exciting part of homecoming: the football game against The University of Southern Mississippi. With our team performing well this season, students are sure to pack the stands and show their Warhawk pride.
This year’s homecoming may not be exactly like last year’s, but it brought its excitement. Hopefully, students showed up, got involved and made the most of it.
