On Oct. 22, SGA held a Senate meeting to review several initiatives and plan events for early November.
SGA began the semester aiming to improve faculty and student outreach on campus, which is why they scheduled “Let’s Talk Warhawks” on Nov. 5 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the HUB and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Caf.
“We’re looking to connect with students and get feedback on different events and things going on around campus,” said SGA senator Kelly Lohman in a follow-up interview.
SGA has several events and initiatives coming up in November.
On Nov. 9, students can expect to see an SGA tent at the Grove from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for the Family Day Tailgate. SGA will serve chili dogs, burgers and a few fun outdoor activities for students and their families.
The Swipe Out Hunger initiative, started by former SGA President David Hernandez last year, is set to begin Nov. 11. Students will be able to donate unused meal swipes at the Cafeteria to help other students with food insecurity.
SGA also planned a Campus Safety Walk, which is scheduled for Nov. 12 at 6:00 PM. Attendees will be separated into small groups led by an SGA member to look for safety hazards that need to be addressed.
Along with set events for early November, SGA senators debated Ace’s Study Space. Common issues with the event are students taking too many snacks and the lights going out. However, despite these problems, senators agreed that Ace’s Study Space is a must-have for college students.
To learn more about SGA’s plans for the semester, students can attend their weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in CNSB 100. Students can also check Suitable for upcoming SGA events.
