Last week, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) finalized its plans for the remainder of the fall semester. With finals only a month away, CAB hopes to provide students with a much-needed break from studying.
President Beau Benoit lists the upcoming events in November and December.
“CAB still has events for the fall, such as the titleholders pageant, Holidays at ULM and Midnight Breakfast,” Benoit said.
Holidays at ULM will occur on Dec. 2 at Scott Plaza. The event will mark the beginning of winter with the lighting of ULM’s Christmas tree. Student Development coordinator Sidney Jones explains how CAB collaborates with oher RSOs to plan the event.
“That’s going to be a community facing event more than anything else,” Jones said. “But we will have some RSOs and other departments helping. SGA’s going to help with a cookie decorating event, and we’re still finalizing that.”
CAB will host Midnight Breakfast on Dec. 4 at Schulze Cafeteria from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. A group of volunteers will treat students to free breakfast the night before final exams begin.
CAB public relations officer Kaylee Grassi reflects on CAB’s on-campus presence throughout the fall.
“I feel like CAB has been very active so far this semester,” Grassi said. “We have had a great time with Week of Welcome and Homecoming week! We have also been very active with as many as possible.”
Benoit mentions that CAB is already looking ahead to next semester.
“After the break, all eyes will be on our spring planning, with a major emphasis on Spring Fever,” Benoit said.
CAB will sponsor the annual talent show, ULM’s Got Talent, in February. Contestants will sing, dance, do stand-up or play their instrument of choice.
CAB will transform Bayou Pointe into a makeshift casino on Mar. 13. Attendees of Casino Night will be able to test their skills at blackjack, poker and craps.
Spring Fever Week will occur either in March or April. CAB will collaborate with RSOs, such as SGA and 31 Ambassadors, to plan new events.
“We’re going to do something a little different,” Jones said. “We’re collaborating with Greek Life. They’re going to have their step show, which is usually Homecoming week. We’re also trying to work on finagling a concert in there as well.”
Benoit emphasizes CAB’s important role on campus.
“While it is easy to label CAB as the ‘fun RSO,’ we enjoy collaborating with other RSOs to be more diversive in our programming, and engaging with more members of the ULM community,” Benoit said.
