DreamWorks, the studio that created Prince of Egypt and the Kung Fu Panda franchise, once again stuns audiences with its newest motion picture, The Wild Robot.
The movie tells a story of change and the beauty of nature. With stunning visual effects, DreamWorks brings the characters to life through many heartfelt scenes.
A shipwreck leaves the central character, ROZZUM Unit 7134, stranded on a “deserted” island. While stuck, Roz’s surroundings force her to overcome and adapt. She grows despite the unfamiliar setting and fearful animals residing within every crevice.
From a narrative standpoint, “The Wild Robot” has an emotionally complex plot, even if geared toward adolescent audiences. The movie focuses mainly on Roz’s relationships with the other animals and how they develop. The typical childish scares still prevail, with antagonists like the RECO robots working to recapture Roz.
Despite the endearing characters, this film packs an emotional punch. The movie tackles themes such as family, sentience and identity.
While portrayed through characters in an easy-to-digest form, the lesson of learning how to be oneself remains an important lesson for all audiences.
Overall, this film makes its audience appreciate incredible animation and the world around them.
The films leaves watchers contemplating the film hours after leaving the theater.
“How do you know if you love something… someone?” Roz said.
Roz’s friend, Fink the fox, responded.
“If you do, you should probably tell them,” Fink said.
