The Warhawks managed to hold Central Baptist under 10 points in the second quarter. This strong defensive showing was a key factor in the Warhawks’ ability to build momentum.
“Our defense is really good. We rep that a lot. We are constantly spending time in practice and reviewing our footage,” Valentine said. “It just showed up today. We were playing the right way.”
The Warhawks widened the gap in the third quarter, reaching a 30-point lead with contributions from White, Johnson and junior Chardai Watkins. Guard Cianté Downs scored consecutive layups, and ULM ended the quarter up 89-48.
In the final quarter, Watkins helped ULM reach the 100-point mark. Walker added two jump shots. Butler then scored from a setup by Prince. Downs wrapped the game with eight points, leading ULM to 117-60.

With contributions from both veterans and newcomers, Valentine praised the team’s ability to adapt.
