On March 17-18, the ULM men’s golf team competed in the All-American Intercollegiate, one of the most prestigious events of the season. Hosted by the University of Houston at the Golf Club of Houston, the Warhawks faced off against some of the best teams in the country, including Rice, Texas State, Houston and Yale. The Warhawks ended up tying for 10th place with a score of 890 (+26). The competition proved to be tough, but ULM showed off both the potential and skill of its young squad.
While the Warhawks had their challenges on the green, sophomore Louis Anceaux and senior Theis Poulsen were key to ULM’s success.
Anceaux stood out in the competition. With a score of 215 (-1), Anceaux played at a high level, landing him in the top 10 individually. His consistent performance continues to be the team’s biggest highlight.
Not far behind, Poulsen finished strong, securing 21st place with a score of 219 (+3).
However, the Warhawks were not the only team fighting for a top spot. The University of Houston showed up in their home course, clinching the team title with a commanding finish, nine strokes ahead of second place. Among the Cougars, Chi Chun Chen and Wolfgang Glawe finished second and third individually, respectively.
Competing in the All-American Intercollegiate gave ULM a valuable opportunity to test themselves against some of the nation’s top golf programs. The experience gained from competing at such a high level is invaluable for the Warhawks as they continue their season. The lessons learned and performances delivered will help the team refine skills, improve their consistency and aim for higher finishes in upcoming tournaments. With a mix of young talent and experienced upperclassmen, ULM’s future in collegiate golf is looking bright.
