ULM football made the trip over to Tuscaloosa to face off against No. 21 Alabama on Saturday. With a very tough task in front of them, ULM fell to Alabama with a final score of 73-0.
With not many high points during the game, ULM’s punter, Makenzie Ryan, brought what little energy the team could find on the field when making a vicious clothesline tackle to keep Alabama punt returner Cole Adams from returning it for a touchdown. Ryan made headlines on Bleacher Report and ESPN for his energetic tackle, and some are calling it the tackle of the week.
Alabama scored its first points within the first three minutes of its drive. ULM failed to get any momentum going early in the game and ended the first quarter with a score of 21-0.
The second quarter was more of the same story, with Aidan Armenta getting intercepted on ULM’s first drive of the second quarter. Alabama kept the ball rolling with a couple of long passes, ending the second quarter with a score of 42-0.
The second half did not get any better for ULM, getting shut out and barely even getting into Alabama territory. The Crimson Tide continued to pour it on, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth quarter, ending the game at 73-0.
There was not a lot of ball movement on the offensive side for ULM, with Armenta totaling 28 yards on eight completions and Landon Graves totaling 27 yards on two completions. Tyler Griffin led the Warhawks in receiving yards with 22, and Braylon McReynolds led the ground game with 24 yards.
Kamrin Canterbury led the Warhawks on defense with seven tackles, and right behind him, with six tackles and one tackle for loss, was Marcus Ross.
ULM heads into its bye week looking to prepare for its week four matchup at UTEP on Sep. 20 at 8 p.m.
