The miniature horrors of the popular franchise “Little Nightmares” are returning for their third game on Oct. 10, 2025, garnering lots of attention with its unique style. While Little Nightmares is known for its gloomy, eerie atmosphere, the third game seems to be taking a lighter approach. Along with the new co-op puzzle feature, players will have the ability to explore the new atmosphere of Little Nightmares with a partner.
Coralie Fenielle, producer of “Little Nightmares 3,” described the game as a new beginning for the series. The third entry introduces two new protagonists, Low and Alone, giving the story a fresh direction.
Fenielle wanted to give the protagonist more abilities to offer players more than what was given in the two previous games. This includes the ability for players to switch between two characters in single-player mode, as well as allowing friends in co-op mode to choose one of the characters for their session.
“Each of them will have their own set of iconic items,” Fenielle said. “They will be able to use them in order to solve puzzles.”
The series franchise continues to expand, captivating a noticeable fan base. ULM Junior illustration major Juis Moss appreciates the series for its distinctive gameplay mechanics. Moss developed a genuine enjoyment for the game from what he observed.
“I really enjoy the gameplay,” Moss said.
As for the ‘nightmarish’ depiction for Little Nightmares 3, Fenielle noted that she wants the third game to implement a unique type of narrative called “charming horror.” Fenielle wanted players to immerse themselves in the world of Little Nightmares through a child’s perspective.
Fenielle’s ability to portray horror caught the attention of ULM junior graphic design major Isabella Camacho.
“The art style is really cool,” Camacho expressed. “All the monsters are super interesting looking.”
As students count down to the Oct. 10 release, many are eager to return to the eerie yet captivating world of “Little Nightmares.” With co-op gameplay, new characters, and the concept of “charming horror,” the franchise’s third chapter may be its most imaginative yet.
