Lately, students have been wondering about how graduate students fit into ULM’s parking system.
“Several years ago [there was] special parking for graduate assistants. As their numbers dwindled, so did the parking. Graduate students never had special parking on campus,” said ULM Police Chief Larry Ellerman in response to the rumors that there had been graduate parking in the past.
The graduate assistant parking was absorbed into the commuter parking with the building of the parking facility.
John Hughes, a graduate student, can only guess where he’s supposed to park since he is not entirely sure.
“I have a commuter sticker on my vehicle, so I think that means I can park in various overflow lots, including outside the library and in the gravel lots near the nursing building,” Hughes said.
Hughes and other graduate students are now streamlined with the commuters and must follow the same guidelines in regards to parking and tickets.
