Time to spend meal plan money is running out
As the school year approaches its end, students are scrambling to use the remaining balance of their flex dollars.
Flex dollars, which work like debit cards, can be used at the SUB, convenience store and Starbucks.
If you’re low on funds, you can always add more, so it’s no surprise that it’s a huge success among students.
Thanks to Dr. Bruno, flex dollars roll over from fall to spring semester as long as you purchase a meal plan for the spring. However, they unfortunately don’t transfer from spring to fall.
“We have a number of different plans available, and flex dollars are calculated for the number of days in the school year,” said Mike Trevathan, Director of Auxiliary Enterprises at ULM. “ULM is one of the few schools where [flex dollars] roll over from the fall to spring semester.”
Junior Speech-Language Pathology major from Shreveport Princess Whittington believes flex dollars should roll over each semester.
“If you pay for it, you should be able to use it whenever you want. I used to give [flex dollars] away because I had so many left, but who wants to do that when they can keep them?” said Whittington.
