Richard Linklater’s “Me & Orson Welles” showcases some of the year’s best performances from Christian McKay as Welles and, yes, Zac Efron as the affectionately called “Junior.” The movie is less compelling as a coming of age story surrounding Junior than it is as a battle of egos, including that of Orson Welles during his infamous theatrical production of “Julius Caesar,” where Welles’ genius keeps Junior believing he’s in charge of his life when it’s just as hectic as any of the arts.
