After more than four years at ULM, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeff Cass will leave the University to take another job in Texas. His last day will be Jan. 19.
Cass is leaving ULM for the University of Houston – Victoria where he will be the provost and vice president of academic affairs.
Associate Dean Michael Camille will be acting dean beginning Jan. 20 and will officially become the interim dean in February. Camille could remain interim dean throughout 2012 while the University conducts a search for Cass’ permanent replacement.
Cass became dean on July 1, 2007, joining ULM after serving as associate provost at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. In addition to being dean, Cass also taught English classes.
He earned his B.A. in English and German from the University of Dallas. Cass then earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of California – San Diego.
Camille has served as the associate dean for four years after previously serving as the head of the Department of Geosciences.
