Hi! My name is Jasmine and I’m a freshman Accounting major from Shreveport, LA. I joined Student Publications simply because I love writing (and because I enjoyed writing for my high school’s newspaper). When I’m not covering an event, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, online shopping, learning line dances, and being a part-time professional homebody.
As I write for The Hawkeye, I hope to become well-versed in many sports, so that I can eventually consider myself a “sports connoisseur.” Volleyball is my favorite sport to cover because I understand it through and through.
When writing, my main goal is to make readers feel as if they attended the games themselves. Whether I’m describing a tie-breaking free throw from basketball or a run rule in baseball, I try my best to transfer the energy from the games to the paper.
