ULM hires new athletic director

Nick Floyd was named the New Athletic Director of ULM on Thursday.

Floyd, who was formerly at Eastern Carolina University, was associated with the athletics department since 2001.

In 2004, he was named executive associate director of athletics. Floyd has 33 years of experience in collegiate athletics management.

At ECU, Floyd’s job included financial and operational oversight of a $40 million per year athletics program.

There were record setting ticket sales, attendance and donations.

From 2001-2003 Floyd served as senior associate director of athletics and interim director from 2003-2004.

Later on at Southern Mississippi, Floyd spent 12 years in many different roles like, assistant athletic director, associate athletic director, and senior associate athletic director.

Floyd also served as Conference USA Associate Commissioner (1998-2001) in Chicago, Illinois.

Richard Giannini, executive director of the Bahamas Bowl and consultant to the ULM AD search committee said, “Nick thoroughly understands the financial challenges facing all collegiate athletic programs and he totally comprehends the processes it takes to have a well-organized and successful athletics department.”

Floyd earned his Bachelor of Science in Administrative Management from Clemson University in 1982.

He also received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in Oxford in 1985. While at Ole Miss, Floyd was a graduate assistant to the athletic director from 1983-85.

Floyd talked about the new opportunity at ULM saying, “I am now more than ready to take this next step and apply my skills, knowledge and experience that I have gained during my lifetime to the ULM program in a manner that will be productive for the university and the greater ULM community.”
