The following has been emailed to all ULM students and faculty Monday Oct. 13 at 10:00 a.m.

Dear Colleagues and Students,

After releasing yesterday’s notification regarding a possible abduction off-campus, we received an eyewitness report from a female runner in the area who stated the red vehicle in question did stop and talk to another runner, but she was not abducted nor did she leave with the vehicle. The witness stated the runner and the vehicle left the area in opposite directions.

We also followed up on a second report of a student runner seen in the area at the time of the report. We have made contact with her, and she did not have any contact with the red vehicle.

At this time, none of the surrounding law enforcement agencies or UPD have received any reports of a missing person that may have been in the area of ULM, and there is no evidence that an abduction has taken place. Anyone with any further information that might be helpful in this incident should contact University Police at 318.342.5350; at Filhiol Hall; or anonymously at http://www.ulm.edu/police/report-crime by clicking on “Silent Witness Program”.

Police urge members of the campus community to:

— Use the buddy system and walk with a friend or use the UPD Escort Service by calling 318.342.5350
— Report suspicious persons and activity immediately to 911 or 318.342.5350
— Be aware of your surroundings and seek help if you feel endangered
