Keeping your friends close and your enemies closer was not in the game plan for the ULM tennis program as they picked up their eleventh straight win over its in-state rival UL-Lafayette.

Senior Petra Horakova, who led the team to 12-0 on the season in dual play, led the team to it’s eighth straight win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.

While the match took place at a neutral location in Arlington, Texas, the Warhawks were able to rally behind each other and come out on top.

In doubles play, the team of Horakova and Stefana Andrei won 6-0 while the team of Karolina Snita and Madalina Grigoriu also won their match 6-0.

After the game, Horakova talked about how the match meant more than any other match during the season.

“It feels great beating ULL because it is our rival school, and I always make sure I put more than a hundred percent to win my match. I am happy we beat them today,” she said.

Horakova went on to say that the win was a good test for her team to get ready for the upcoming playoffs.

The tennis team will now prepare for their final match of the season before the Sun Belt championship when they face off against SMU on Friday at 1 p.m. in Dallas.
