International sweets satisfy local palate

Everyone loves dessert, and what better way to give the students of ULM a taste of different cultures than through International Sweets Festival.

The International Students’ Association organized the event to introduce different cultures of international students through sweets.

The countries of Korea, Nepal, Venezuela, France, Vietnam, Mexico along with the African Caribbean Association were represented at the event.

Truc Pham sold vietnamese iced coffee at the event.

Pham, a senior kinesiology major, fulfilled her long time wish of introducing the coffee to her friends through the event.

“I was surprised that many people loved it. There were few customers who even came for a second and third cup. I sold over 50 cups of coffee,” Pham said.

The iced coffee was sold out by mid-event.

Taylor Simmons was very excited about the unique event. “I enjoyed meeting all of the cool people and supporting international diversity on campus,” said Simmons, a junior speech language pathology major.

Along with sweets from different countries, the event also had a henna booth for interested students.
