Pollution: Kathmandus way of life

Most often, the capital of any country is marked by the developed infrastructures, the widespread use of modern technologies and the availability of all possible services. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, provides all these facilities but lags in one major aspect-environmental conservation.

Although advancing bit by bit, the city is simultaneously ignorant about the consequences of the pollution that arises. The pollution, and its effect on the population, is so alarming that Kathmandu was listed as one of the most polluted cities in the world.

This finding came from a 2017 pollution index report by Numbeo.com.

This is clearly a difficult time for everyone living there, and resources are getting tarnished. The government, surprisingly, is more interested in pacifying the parties’ gross demands than taking actions for saving the environment.

The pollution of this city has increased so much that reducing it seems like far too arduous a task for many of the residents.

When I view other countries, I see the pollution, crime and everything else that could be improved on.

I don’t want people to think like this for my beautiful city, Kathmandu.

The people of Kathmandu find themselves in the mire of the effects of the pollution. The young people of this city must be made aware that solving this problem requires perseverance and a fervent drive to make the city healthy again.

It is important that we start from our own homes to make change in the environment. Kathmandu is referred to as the city of temples, the city of bravery, the city of various cultures, traditions and religions and the city of love.

When will Kathmandu be a healthy city again?

It is a challenging question, but not impossible to find a solution. Such a feat can only be achieved when each person of the city takes responsibility and joins hands to make Kathmandu clean and safe.
