Winter weather is here. And even though it won’t be here for long, most of us probably need to update our closets. Here are three easy-to-find clothing items that will make you warmer this winter.

1) Turtlenecks

Although many of us were probably forced to wear turtlenecks as kids, they are back and in style. Turtlenecks are not only super chic, but are also great for layering. A nice graphic tee over a turtleneck with a jacket has been a staple in my daily wear this season. Striped or solid, ribbed or not, either way turtlenecks are a great option. Turtlenecks usually cost around $15-$20 at most clothing stores, but thrift stores usually have them too, which is a cheaper and a more eco-friendly alternative.

2) Beanies

Beanies are an excellent way to elevate your outfit while adding warmth. Beanies can be found in almost any color and are sold in plenty of places around Monroe as well as online. 

Carhartt beanies have become more popular recently, but any beanie works great paired with a casual outfit. The prices for beanies range from around $3-$25, depending on the quality and brand name.

3) Sweaters

There’s nothing better than a thick stitched sweater on a cold windy day—especially one with a fun, unique print. Sweaters are comfortable, but they are also very classy. Depending on what you wear with it, a sweater can be a step up from casual, but not overly business. It’s versatile, so it’s great to always have as an option. The price range of sweaters varies depending on print, style and type. But there are many stores in the mall like Old Navy, H&M and J.C. Penney that have affordable quality sweaters.
