Students relax, learn skincare advice

As the temperatures drop here on

the bayou, the leaves begin to fall

and sweaters come out of the closet.

But one thing many students

don’t think about is how dry their

skin can become when the cold

weather moves in.

The Ambitious Women’s Society

held an event Tuesday to help students

get some rest and relaxation

in the form of skincare by hearing

from special guests Massage Envy.

Students in attendance got the

chance to see the benefits that taking

some time for themselves has

to offer.

“I wanted to let students know the

benefits of massages and skincare,”

Massage Envy’s General Manager

Ashley Newell said. “It’s not just

for relaxation it can be for healing

as well.”

Each student that came was treated

to a short massage and given a

couple of coupons for a massage or

facial at Massage Envy.

The special guests also brought

with them a UV machine so students

could see what type of skin

they have. Students were excited to

see the colors that popped up under

the UV light and talk with the

associates from Massage Envy.

Sophomore pre-pharmacy major

Treasure Garner said she enjoyed

how in-depth Massage Envy went

with their explanations and taught

everyone new things.

“They did really good with actually

breaking it down for us so we can

understand,” Garner said.

Along with the coupons, students

also went home with samples of

HydraLuxe lotion to keep their skin

healthy during the winter.

AWS and Massage Envy partnered

for a raffle drawing during

the event. One student won a free

massage at Massage Envy and three

students went home with some

new skincare products provided by

AWS.

Tia Arvie, a junior marketing major

and member of AWS, said it was

important for the organization to

hold this event so students could

relax before finals and have fun together.

“We wanted to work on people

being knowledgeable about the

skincare routines they might be

doing,” Arvie said. “You can learn

how to do skincare by just being at

home by yourself and you know get

ready for finals.”

Students left the event remembering

the importance and fun that

taking care of their skin can have

just in time for the end of the semester.
