School is back in session. Many students may be dreading this spring semester, but there are plenty of ways to make this semester more enjoyable.

The spring semester is full of events and holidays. Whenever your studies start weighing you down, remember these ways to make the most of your semester.

1) Take advantage of crawfish season

In about two months, Louisiana’s favorite seafood will be back on everyone’s menu. Crawfish boils will start happening every other weekend. If you’re from another state or a different country, you may not understand why everyone goes crazy during crawfish season. If you’ve never had crawfish, try some this spring. See why people are willing to spend their whole paycheck on pounds of mini-lobster lookalikes.

2) Celebrate Mardi Gras

I may not want the baby, but I’d do just about anything for a good king cake. When Mardi Gras is near, it seems like everyone in Louisiana gets a little nicer. The long weekend is something that any college student would celebrate over, but remember the reason for the break. Keep the tradition of Mardi Gras alive and participate. Eat a king cake with your friends. It’s worth the risk of buying the next cake. The Monroe area has many local parades you can attend.

3) Support athletics

Both men’s and women’s basketball teams are doing well. Baseball and softball seasons are approaching. Life isn’t bad for a ULM sports fan. But even if sports aren’t your thing, attending athletic events is a great way to be supportive of ULM and student-athletes. You don’t have to know the rules of softball to cheer on the team.
