Sony’s 2026 State of Play showcase took place last week, and with it has come movie tie-ins, remakes, sequels and remasters galore.
Releasing in May, 007 First Light will allow players to experience a new James Bond origin story first-hand. 007 is being developed by IO interactive, the same company as the Hitman games, so fans can trust that the amateur spy is in good hands. Although untitled and with no release date, action fans can expect to see a John Wick game in the future being developed by Saber Interactive.
For God of War’s 20th anniversary, not only can a fan look forward to a remake of the original trilogy, but also a new 2D platformer, Sons of Sparta, that is already available to play. The developers of the original God of War trilogy are developing both games.
With over a decade since the last original entry in the series, Castlevania is getting a new game in the form of Belmont’s Curse from KONAMI, Evil Empire and Motion Twin this year. It follows an unnamed successor of Trevor Belmont and is set 23 years after Castlevania III.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released August of this year. Marvel fans, especially those who enjoy the Marvel Vs. Capcom series, can look forward to the new stylized fighting game as well as the roster announcements of Magik, Wolverine and Danger.
For horror fans, both Silent Hill: Townfall and Resident Evil Requiem got a feature in the show.Requiem will be available to play on Feb. 27, and Townfall’s release is only as specific as 2026. Townfall was shown to be in first person at State of Play, in stark contrast to the third person gameplay of past Silent Hill games.
