ULM drops sixth straight conference series to WKU
The ULM baseball team was on the outside looking in going into the series versus Western Kentucky.
The Warhawks struck first against the Hilltoppers in game one. Kendall Thamm started the game on the mound instead of usual starter Drew Granier.
Thamm struck out five and allowed four runs in the game.
It was a close game until late when Jarrett Hammond hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth, capping a three RBI night to steal a 5-4 win versus WKU.
Saturday’s game was far less kind to the Warhawks as they came out on the wrong end of an eventual slugfest.
The game was tied 1-1 going into the 7th inning, and that is when the Hilltoppers made their move.
Pitcher Randy Zeigler ran into trouble in the inning to put ULM in an 8-1 hole.
The Warhawks tried to battle back by scoring four runs of their own in the eighth inning to close the gap, but that is all the offense the Warhawks could muster as the team could not complete the comeback and lost 8-5.
ULM again couldn’t hold a 5-1 lead and lost game three 8-5.
