The University of Louisiana at Monroe men and women’s cross-country teams swept the competition at the LouisianaLafayette Invitational, claiming overall winners in both divisions en route to a first place finish for both teams.
Moses Chelimo dominated the competition as he placed first overall for the men in the six-kilometer event with a time of 19:33. Chelimo finished more than a full minute ahead of his closest competitor at the UL-L invitational.
Overall, four Warhawks finished in the top four, as Chelimo was followed directly by fellow Warhawks: Seth Hall, Jorel Torres, and Devin Caldwell who took second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
For the women, Madeline Robertson claimed first place in the four-kilometer event with a time of 15:30.
Overall, the men’s team crushed the competition as they scored 20 points, followed by ULL with 51 points.
The ULM women’s team tallied 32 points and defeated ULL with a score of 37 points.
The Warhawks will return to the course on Sept. 25 to compete in the Louisiana State University Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
