Instead of one speaker, this year’s Lyceum Series will feature two guests.

Olympic gold medalists Shawn Johnson and Mia Hamm will speak at the Lyceum Series event on March 9.

Shawn Johnson is a former gymnast who won the gold medal on the balance beam in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Johnson also won other medals such as the team all-around silver medal in Beijing and was a five-time Pan American Games gold medalist.

Mariel “Mia” Hamm is a retired soccer player who played for the United States’ women’s soccer team. She has won two Olympic gold medals and has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

According to ULM’s website, the Lyceum Series promotes thoughtful discussion among those at ULM and the community.
