MBA ranks best in state

ULM’s Master of Business Administration degree program now holds 57th in the nation and the highest ranking in the state.
The program was ranked out of almost 200 schools by the U.S. News and World Report, one of the most respected sources for national higher education and hospital rankings.
Non-MBA business graduate degrees were also considered in the rankings prior to 2015. However, this year was the U.S. News and World Report’s first MBA-only ranking.
Ron Berry is pleased to see ULM’s MBA degree program’s work being acknowledged nationally.
“I continue to be impressed by the work of our faculty and am very excited to see their efforts recognized by a national ranking in the U.S. News and World Report,” said Ron Berry, dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences.
The program was last ranked 87th, making a 30 spot jump in the last year. Dr. Berry gives all credit to the faculty’s efforts and their devotion to the students.
“The improvement of our ranking from last year provides strong evidence of our faculty’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in delivering our internationally accredited programs,” said Berry. “ULM is truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and excellent faculty who are committed to our students’ success.”
According to the methodology provided by U.S. News and World Report, “Master’s degree programs in business administration have a greater enrollment by far than any other type of graduate business degree program. Therefore, each program was ranked based on five factors.
One of those factors included “Student Engagement,” which accounted for 28 percent of each ranking. This factor involved student and instructor interaction, accessibility of instructors, and positive student experiences.
Eddie Cooper, junior business management major, said he thinks the MBA degree program has a bright future.
“This will up the enrollment in the program tremendously because ULM is putting itself as one of the best MBA programs in the state,” said Cooper.
