As archived on The College Football Uniform Database, the ULM football team has sported 24 uniforms from 2023 to 2025, not accounting for repeats. As an entirely biased source, I have taken it upon myself to find the best and worst ULM has had to offer in the past 3 years.
The uniform at the bottom of my list was worn in week one of 2023. The muddy green is unappealing and does not scream ULM by any stretch of the imagination. The Army Black Knights, wearing white and cream yellow, looked more like ULM than the Warhawks did.
Weeks five and 12 of 2025, ULM’s team wore a depressing grey jersey matched with the same shade of shorts. The uniform does not hurt to look at, but it is not attention-drawing in the slightest. One of the last things a football player should do is fade into the background, yet it is the first thing these uniforms do.
Another uniform that seemed to lack any connection to the ULM brand was worn in weeks seven and eight of 2025. The black and gold are flattering themselves, unlike the green from before, and they stand out very nicely. However, the uniforms are lacking for one important reason: they look entirely disconnected from the school. Ideally, a football game is when school pride is at one of its highest peaks, and the uniforms should do that. These uniforms make it look like the players are trying to be as unassociated with ULM as possible.
Getting to ones that look good and are true to ULM, week three of 2023’s uniforms come in subtle but solid. All-white uniforms are easy to make boring, but the bright yellow and dark maroon work well as accents and prevent it from looking washed out. Uniforms similar to this with slight differences in shades of the maroon and gold have been common, and it is for good reason: it looks good and stands out.
My personal favorite uniform was worn in week two of the 2023 season. The jersey is a perfect maroon (there are many uniforms that are more of a bright red than ULM’s signature maroon), and the pants are gold without looking garish. The color palette and balance make it obvious that the players are Warhawks.
