Mock trial succeeds in Mississippi

The Gold Squad of ULM’s Mock Trial Team finished as one of the top-six teams at the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament last week in Jackson, Miss.

This makes the second year that the squad has qualified to compete in the first round of the AMTA national tournament. The tournament, called the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS), will take place starting on March 8 in Memphis, Tenn.

Less than 25 percent of the squads that competed in the regional competition will go on to nationals.

Olivia Sage, a member of the Gold Squad, is amazed at the opportunity to compete nationally.

“It is an amazing feeling to be able to represent ULM at ORCS for the second year in a row. I’m so proud of our team and how much we have improved over the year and am looking forward to Tennessee!” Sage said.
