“Smash,” a new television show based on the production of a Broadway musical, recently aired on NBC. With the musical revolving around movie legend Marilyn Monroe, the show is a soap-opera based drama, chronicling the lives of the people behind the curtains.
Katherine McPhee, star of the show, plays Karen Catwirght, a newcomer vying for the lead role of Marilyn Monroe. Megan Hilty plays Ivy Lynn, a Broadway veteran, favored to play the role of Monroe. Cartwright and Lynn are rivals that
must deal with the stresses of this Broadway show,while also dealing with their own personal issues. The new primetime musical airs at 9p.m. on Monday nights.
