Police chief, captain on leave

ULM officials announced today that Police Chief Larry Ellerman and Captain Dan Chason are on temporary leave from their spots at the university police department.

Ellerman will remain on leave until his retirement on Jan. 11, 2013, according to University spokeswoman Laura Clark.

“Since this is a personnel matter, no further information will be disclosed at this time,” Clark said in an email.

ULM Police Lieutenant Adonis Pate will be in charge of police operations temporarily due to the absence of the department’s heads.

“Those are big shoes to fill,” Pate said about replacing Ellerman.

Pate said the quality of service from ULM PD will not diminish.

“ULM will continue to be one of the safest campuses in the country,” he said.

Word on the skreet is that the department was reusing old stamps to fake up-to-date CPR certification, something that came to light after a recent paper audit. Hello, felony fraud.

    Good job, cops.
